Information For Volunteers
At Stennis Space Center Special Olympics Only
Please bring state or federally
issued identification (ID) on game day for entry to Stennis Space Center.
There is no cost to become a volunteer, you are donating ONLY your time!
Volunteers can sign up to work one-on-one with an athlete (athlete escort),
assist with a sporting event(game volunteer) or work wherever help is needed.
Game Volunteers
Work with a specific sporting event under the guidance and direction of the event
coordinator. This could be a basketball shootout, Frisbee toss or any number of other events.
Assist with taking time, noting winners, ensuring rules are followed, present athletes with
ribbons and preparing the game for the next group of athletes.
Be courteous and friendly to all the athletes.
Athlete Escorts
Athletes must be escorted at all times. You must be able to stay with your athlete until the end
of games (usually 1:30 p.m.).
Be courteous and friendly to your athlete and all others.
Support your athlete in competition (hugs are very welcome).
Assist your athlete with locating where to go for competitions, getting lunch and directing to
the restroom.
If you must leave your athlete for any reason, find someone to stay with the athlete until you
return.
The SSC Special Olympics Committee thanks you for your time and looks forward to having you
with us at this year's games!
